OPTIC 1

The OPTIC 1 was launched in 1980.
This version was not equipped with gas controls. The gas control was used from the host GC.
The temperature range was from 5 to 600°C and selectable by thumb wheels. The ramp rate was also selectable by thumb wheels from 1 to 16ºC per second. The injector body was slightly different than the one of the OPTIC 2. Like all our instruments, the OPTIC 1 could be installed on all GC's available at that time. A cooling valve delivered the cooling air for cooling down to start temperature. Even at that time a wide range of liners was available for different injection modes.
OPTIC 2

OPTIC 2 is a temperature and pressure programmable injector, which is fully compatible with all common GC and GC-MS systems. The first unit was sold in 1996 and there are now many happy users of this instrument. OPTIC 2 offers a significant improvement in the quality of results obtained by the elimination of sample discrimination (to C100) and reduction of thermal degradation. OPTIC 2 operating modes include the following:
  • Hot and Cold Split
  • Hot and Cold Splitless
  • On-column
  • At-Column
  • Direct Thermal Desorption
  • Rapid Large Volume Injection
  • DMI
In addition, high temperature injection that can be programmed up to 600 °C to do a pyrolysis. In "Expert mode" OPTIC 2 represents the best method of coupling sample processing systems on-line to the GC or GC-MS instruments.

OPTIC 3

Since 2002 we have the next generation of the OPTIC 2 and this is the OPTIC 3.
Big change is the electronic flow control and the new designed and patented injector body done with computer modeling at TNO Delft. The new injector body has a much better temperature profile resulting in better performance for high boilers. April 2006, ATAS GL has changed the injector power supply and software resulting in a ramp rate of 30°C/sec over the full temperature range.
